What are seamless rails?
Continuous seamless rails, also known as a welded long rail line, is a line that welds ordinary rails without leaving rail seams. meters or longer. The long rails are laid and fixed on the sleepers within the specified temperature range. There are rail slits at the end of the long rail, and the middle part cannot expand or contract with the temperature rise and fall. Therefore, the middle section of the steel rail will generate a large temperature pressure in summer and a large temperature tension in winter. The large pressure and tensile force in the rail can be calculated according to the annual high and low temperature of the place where the rail is laid. The large pressure on the rail should not cause the rail to buckle, and the large tensile force should not cause the rail to break.
The seamless rails line greatly reduces the rail joints, reduces the impact on the rails when the wheels pass through the joints, is conducive to saving line maintenance costs, prolongs the service life of the rails, and reduces the noise of locomotives.
Welding of long seamless rails takes place on contact welding machines in the rail welding plant. The whole welding work includes a series of technological processes such as rail arrangement, straightening, rail end treatment, welding, welding flash removal, normalizing, grinding, straightening, and flaw detection. The welded long rails are mounted on the special rail trains from the rail storage platform and then headed directly to the track-laying site. After arriving at the construction site, the long rails are drawn out from the left and right guide chutes of the last rail unloading car of the rail-carrying train and unloaded on both sides of the line track respectively. Then the long rails are welded to the specified design length by aluminothermic welding on site according to the design requirements.
